The outbreak of nationalist movements, which spread throughout the world with the French Revolution, occurred in the multinational Ottoman Empi-re. It coincides with the period when Mahmut attempted reforms. Subsequently, during the Tanzimat Era, the Tanzimat reforms were implemented in ways that varied according to different regions and circumstances. The first steps of the Tanzimat reforms were taken in the Balkans, with the Danube as a pilot. Since the states in the Balkans have their own characteristics, the responses to the implemented reforms vary. The disintegration that started with the Serbian re-bellion was reinforced by the Greek rebellion and brought into question their identity within the Nation system based on other religious foundations. By prio-ritizing the ethnic identity of Bulgarians, they took steps towards independence every 20 years. The religious identities of Albanians are diverse. Therefore, some states within the Ottoman Empire adopted the Tanzimat Reforms, while some states resisted the Tanzimat and fought against change. In addition to being a historical fact and historical event, the reform is important because it creates po-litics with today’s historiography. Historians’ reactions to or support for Tanzimat have been interpreted in a political and psychological way. Political Psychology examines political problems arising from the attitudes formed by various identi-ties on a psychological basis. This field focuses on points of historical continuity and rupture that unite and divide according to conflicts and alliances over iden-tities. Like Psychoanalysis applied to individuals, it evaluates trauma and events that remain in the memory of society. Thus, he tries to reveal causality. It has topics such as victory, traumas, identity, mass psychology. Their approaches and texts in Balkan historiography can be analyzed. The paper examines the period of Tanzimat in the Balkans with a political psychology approach and presents its effects from the Tanzimat period to the present day.
