Globalization has resulted in the rising interdependence of countries provoked by international trade, transfer of technology, investment flows, and finance. This interdependence brings about a strong integration of the world’s economies that has had substantial repercussions for trade in natural resources and their exploitation. Despite that far-reaching implications of globalization are sophisticated and may have not only economic but also profound environ-mental consequences, the joint environmental impact of natural resources and globalization has not been investigated quite thoroughly. Against this backdrop, this study establishes on the Stochastic Impacts by Regression on Population, Affluence and Technology theoretical framework to scrutinize the direct impact of energy use, economic emancipation, population, use of Earth’s resources, and globalization on ecological footprint. This study adopts the annual panel data from 1999 to 2020 for nine key oil producers to explore whether natural resour-ces encourage environmental sustainability through the channel of globalizati-on. The empirical outcomes unfolded the positive association between econo-mic emancipation, use of energy, population, Earth’s resources consumption, and ecological footprint. In contrast, there is a negative association between globalization and ecological footprint such that globalization furnishes the envi-ronmental sustainability of the investigated laboratory. Moreover, there is a ne-gative coefficient of moderator uncovering that Earth’s resources consumption can substantiate environmental sustainability via the channel of globalization to tackle environmental challenges. These findings clearly unearth the necessity to shift towards sustainable production methods that will not only conserve Earth’s resources but also mitigate adverse environmental impacts associated with their extraction and waste management to realize the targets of Sustainable Develop-ment Goal 12.
